Oh This is What Vegemite Tastes Like!?

"We're going to have a breakfast at school, Ari".

I woke up freezing early in the morning but I could still handle it. Theresa made my lunch which was chicken sandwich. Because of the Breakfast Gathering Ceremony at school, Theresa and I didn’t have ours at house.

The ceremony was started at 8 am Victoria Time in the Cafeteria Kitchen and held every Wednesday. When I came in, I saw lots of students and staff gathered. I was quite nervous because I didn’t expect this situation. (I knowww I was a really shy person at the time - I dunno, I was just insecure with my language). Nevertheless, I tried to adapt and got bonded with the others, like staff or students.

"Come here, Ari! This is Sol. She works here to help preparing the breakfast.", Theresa introduced me to Sol.

"Hi Sol! Nice to meet you!", I greeted her.

"Do you want to try some toast?", Theresa asked me.

"Oh yes please!", I said it without thinking twice hahaha.

"Oh there's Vegemite here. It's actually a little bit salty. Do you want to give it a try?". She offered me the treasure.

Of course I said A BIG YES! I had been waiting for this moment for years! (tasting Vegemite in the country of Aussies). Honestly, I was uncertain because I was afraid to vomit hahaha. I legit had a little bit of flashback when people told me they disliked it. BUT, I was committed to run into that.

I grabbed the Vegemite toast and put it in my mouth.

"Do you like it?".

"Hmm.. I like it". I was actually surprised. It was not as salty as I thought it would be, which is a good thing.

Knowing that all of the food was free, I challenged myself to take some toasts with Strawberry and Vegemite and a cup of chocolate milk. I was just thinking it is like my last chance, so XD.

For me, I do like eating Vegemite. The first time I tasted it, it was a weird flavor going on in my mouth. But after I tried to enjoy it, I started to get the taste in my tongue palate. Now, I really miss how it feels like eating it! hahaha
